The 2013 Clos Saint Denis Grand Cru has a lifted, candied nose (although it was waiting for some SO2 that will dampen that exuberance.) The palate is sweet again with kirsch and fresh strawberry and an orange-sorbet finish that needs to learn some manners. Fine, but hopefully Nicolas will put a leash on this Grand Cru by the time of bottling.
Deep crimson. Juicy and round – very fruity. A real heart throb. Big and welcoming. Pure and with a wonderful fruity undertow without being at all obvious. But perhaps not for the very long term. (JR)

Nicolas Potel is one of Burgundy’s most talented and connected winemakers. He created Maison Roche de Bellene, the négoce arm of Domaine de Bellene, in 2008, using his extensive network in the region to source top-quality fruit for an "haute couture" négociant operation.
