100% new oak. Mid to deep crimson. Dark-fruited and peppery on the nose but with a light floral note as well. Firm and dry and not much flesh at the moment – will it gain some? It needs to. (JH)
The 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru les Beaux Monts has a rather conservative, tertiary bouquet for a les Beaux Monts with scents of blackberry and cassis, granitic scents underneath. The palate is medium-bodied with a supple texture, a taut line of acidity, impressive density here and finish akin to a les Suchots. Fine.

The Latour family has been growing vines in Burgundy since at least 1731. Their négociant business – today one of the region’s biggest names – was founded in 1797. Still family-owned today, the company owns 48 hectares of vines, 27 of which are Grand Cru, as well as its own cooperage.
