Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2024-2033, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Oct 2024

2023 was warm, but thanks to some spring rain and their altitude, the 2023 Las Toscas kept very good acidity and freshness, showcased by a pH of 3.2. The fruit comes from a small centenary ungrafted vineyard at 1,400 meters above sea level in the village of Güímar in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The year was marked by a large wildfire that, for some reason, didn't mark the wine, even though it was only meters away from the vineyard. The grapes had a slow fermentation with indigenous yeasts (six months!), and the wine matured with lees in barrel for 11 months. It is ripe without excess and has 13.5% alcohol, but there's a sense of balance and elegance like never before. The oak is neatly integrated in the wine, which is vibrant and mineral. This should age nicely in bottle. 1,500 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2024.
