Note di degustazione
Although performing well, particularly for a property that was forced to harvest early because of hail damage, the 1999 Grandes Murailles does not possess the flavor dimension exhibited prior to bottling. It is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc (Michel Rolland is the consulting winemaker). The 1999 is a medium-bodied, richly fruity effort without the depth, length, and overall complexity of the 1998 or 2000. Drink it over the next 5-6 years as it will probably not improve.

Bright ruby. Violet, blackberry and mint aromas. Bright, juicy dark berry and mint flavors offer an attractive sweetness and a supple texture. The tannins are substantial but not hard. Late note of mint on the aftertaste.
