Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2020-2029, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Mar 2020

The 2017 Petit-Figeac is soft, supple and easygoing. Silky and nuanced with pretty aromatic top notes, the Petit-Figeac is an attractive wine to drink now and over the next handful of years.

Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2020-2030, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Mar 2020

Produced from a blend of 36% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Petit-Figeac is medium to deep garnet-purple colored. It sails out of the glass with open-knit scents of freshly crushed red and black plums, black cherries and boysenberries with touches of camphor, dark chocolate and cardamom. Medium-bodied, the palate has lovely freshness and plenty of juicy black and red fruits, framed by chewy tannins, finishing on a fragrant earth note.

The 2017 Petit Figeac has a deep colour. The nose is missing a little fruit intensity, perhaps just rather closed down after bottling. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, the blackberry and raspberry fruit laced with dark chocolate and touches of black pepper. There is just a touch of greenness on the finish, nonetheless, once the aromatics awaken this will be a fine Deuxième Vin.

The second wine from Figeac, the 2017 Petit-Figeac checks in as a blend of 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, which includes a small amount of second-generation grapes and was brought up in 30% new French oak. It's a juicy, lively wine with plenty of plum and black cherry fruit, notes of cedary herbs and earth, medium body, good acidity, and a clean finish.
