2013 Clos St Julien

A top effort from proprietor Catherine Papon-Nouvel, this three-acre jewel of a property has produced a wine made from 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The wine exhibits a saturated ruby/purple color, a sweet kiss of creme de cassis, blueberry, and hints of flowers and chalky minerality. While this medium-bodied wine shows surprisingly good depth, decent acidity and ripe tannin, it should drink well for up to a decade.
