Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2023-2030, Neal Martin, Mar 2021

The 2018 Peymouton is straightforward on the nose, featuring blackberry, briary, scorched earth and light tarry aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins and quite structured, displaying blackberry and bilberry fruit and a light marine influence toward the finish. A bit reserved overall, but nicely proportioned.

Lots of mulberries, blackberries, chocolate, leafy herb, and tobacco notes emerge from the 2018 Château Peymouton. Medium-bodied, it has a juicy, elegant texture, sound underlying tannins, and a clean, classy finish. Coming from the Jean-Pierre Mouiex stable and vines near Château Laroque, it's an impeccably made, outstanding wine. It's going to evolve for 10-15 years.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Peymouton offers up notes of baked plums, stewed black cherries and boysenberries with suggestions of pencil lead, fruitcake and clove oil. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers plenty of spicy black fruit preserves flavors with a chewy texture and plenty of freshness, finishing on an earthy note.
