A suave, rich white that feels broad on the palate and is saturated with poached pear, almond, butter and vanilla bean nuances without overdoing it. Good acidity keeps a fresh texture, while the full body fills out the middle and finish nicely. Drink or hold.

The 2022 Beaune 1er Cru Grèves Le Clos Blanc (Domaine Gagey) is one of the highlights of this year's range. Unfurling in the glass with notes of pear, confit citrus, toasted nuts and white flowers, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and suave, its elegantly textural attack segueing into a taut, racy palate, concluding with a saline finish.
Cask sample. Light nose with some sweetness on the palate. Flattering but somehow not that noble. Quite a bit of alcohol though! (This is the first Jadot 2022 wine in which I have been aware of the alcohol – including all the reds.) (JR)
