As I visited them and had more time, we tasted some back vintages to see the evolution, and he uncorked a bottle of the 2021 Lumière that I hadn't tasted, possibly because of the difficulties with COVID-19 at the time. The wine has an explosive nose of spice, cumin and clove, a sharp palate and very tasty flavors. It's aging at a very slow pace, and I guess it should continue for a good few years... It was also a dry year, but the summer was cool, and the wines have very good freshness, acidity and balance. Muchada tells me this bottling starts showing much better three years after the harvest. He believes 2023 is going to age in a similar way as this 2021. 3,670 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2024.

The 2021 Palomino Lumiere is sourced from an old plot in the Miraflores area, Jerez. It was fermented and aged for 11 months in used French oak barrels. With an amber hue, it reveals honeyed, nutty aromas, complemented by barrel-imparted scents. Rich and chalky on the palate, the faintly saline mouthfeel lingers long and savory.
100% Palomino. From a single plot of 60-year-old vines in La Platera, in Pago Miraflores. West-facing and planted on tosca cerrada albariza soils. Spontaneous alcoholic fermentation and aged in used French oak barrels for 11 months. Intense nose but definitely a Franco-Jerez project using French oak barrels. More lifted than most and very lively. Vivacious and long. (JR)
