Note di degustazione
The Gigault 2020 Cuvee Viva is 100% Merlot aged in 20% new oak, 50% in one-year-old barrels and 30% in tank. The bouquet displays aromas of dark cherries, spring flowers, cassis and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, lively and nicely concentrated, with sweet tannins and much freshness on the mid-palate, this is a strong effort and a wine that can age well in the next five years.

All Merlot from clay soils, the 2020 Château Gigault Cuvée Viva is a rich, concentrated, powerful wine that has lots of darker fruits (cherries, currants) as well as some background oak. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has good mid-palate depth, and while it borders on being a touch rustic and extracted, it stays nicely balanced, has terrific purity, and fine tannins.
The 2020 Gigault Cuvée Viva has an unashamedly luscious bouquet with quite precocious black cherries and crème de cassis scents. Maybe a little too ostentatious? The palate is ripe and slightly candied on the entry, plush but with decent backbone, though I find the finish just a little saccharine.
