Surprisingly, the 1994s were drinking beautifully and had more vibrancy than the 1995s. In addition, this is the first vintage where they made all three special cuvees. Looking first at the 1994 Chateauneuf du Pape les Hautes Brusquières Cuvee Spéciale, it has beautiful freshness and purity in its notes of wild herbs, bay leaf, underbrush and forest floor, with a hint of mint showing on the palate. Medium-bodied, classy, balanced and with bright, yet integrated acidity, it’s an outstanding, mature Chateauneuf du Pape to enjoy over the coming couple of years.

With its aromatic herbes de Provence-scented nose intermixed with jammy black-cherries, the medium ruby/purple-colored 1994 Chateauneuf du Pape offers an enticing bouquet, as well as opulent, supple-textured, full-bodied flavors oozing with jammy black-cherry fruit. Low acidity, high alcohol, and copious glycerin give the wine additional weight, and contribute to its creamy texture.
