Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2022-2034, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Feb 2022

Love how well the 2007s are showing right now, a real sign of how well the good terroirs of Bordeaux hold up over time even in the lighter vintages. Smoke, soot, coffee grounds, tertiary autumnal fruit aromatics, cigar box and sage spice, delicious to drink now, but you can open it any point over the next decade. 50% new oak.

Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 2007 Bordeaux tasting. I must have underrated the 2007 Saint-Pierre because this showed extremely well. This is totally different from the last showing, which was also conducted blind. It has a perfumed, quite feminine bouquet with wilted rose petals infusing the red berry fruit. This seems very composed and refined. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, fine focus and plenty of freshness and vigor towards the lightly spiced finish. This is a very well crafted Saint Julien that should offer another ten years of pleasure. Tasted March 2015.

Healthy crimson. Vigorous. Very ripe and round. Relatively early maturing though there are some furry tannins in the background. Some sweet density. (JR)
