Red fruit, herbs, spice and a slight touch of cocoa get the wine going. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, crisp and fresh with chewy textures, cocoa, and red fruits on the backend. This is going to be quite easy to enjoy on release. 2024-2035.

The 2021 Château du Retout has a really lovely nose, displaying a mixture of red and black fruit, pencil box and tobacco—more expressive than it showed out of barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, plenty of graphite-infused black fruit and just a touch of greenness toward the finish that I can abide. This is maybe not quite as good as I expected from barrel but still a fine Haut-Médoc.
Deep plum in colour, plenty of character and depth through the palate, an impressive wine in the vintage, with cassis, blueberry, mint leaf, graphite and savoury tomato leaf. Medium term drinking, good stuff.
Bark, currants and dried leaves on the nose. It’s medium-bodied, savory and fresh, with sleek tannins and a gently peppery finish. Drink in 2024.
