Note di degustazione
The 1934 Beychevelle, from one of the best vintages of the decade, has a wonderful bouquet that exudes Saint-Julien typicité . Sous-bois -tinged red fruit, leather, antique bureau and hints of wilted flowers open. This gives you everything for 10-15 minutes and then fades. The palate is well balanced with fine tannins, leathery and gentle in terms of grip. But it can't keep its head above water, unlike the 1921 or even the 1905, and it frays at the seams with time. As someone who advocates decanting older wines, this is one where I think I would pop 'n pour.

A moderately dark garnet color is promising for this wine's age, but the nose offers little more than damp, earthy, musky, cellar aromas. Although there is some fruit remaining, the wine is hard, acidic, ungenerous, and attenuated.
Informazioni sul produttore

With greater care in the vineyard and more precision in the winery, Ch. Beychevelle's star is rising. That's in large part due to the leadership of Philippe Blanc and investment by current owners, Japanese brewers Suntory and French wine group Castel.
