Revealing enticing aromas of cherries and raspberries, the dark ruby-colored Chapelle-Chambertin possesses a fabulous, medium-to-full-bodied, well-delineated, silky personality crammed with exceptionally ripe red berry fruit. Deliciously supple, it should be drunk between 2000-2009. This note is the result of tastings I did in Burgundy in Washington, D.C. in April. The wine was tasted from cask, not bottle. Pinot Noir, a fragile varietal, reacts poorly to fining, filtration, and careless bottling techniques, I recommend caution when considering buying a red burgundy based on cask samples. I called it as I tasted it, and hope the bottled wine reflects the quality of the samples I was provided. Overall, 1995 is another in a string of successful vintages for Jadot. Ruby-red color. Aroma of tiny, crystallized berries; much less forthcoming than a year ago from barrel. Tightly coiled, brooding and intensely flavored; this has fruit of steel but is very tough today. Really implodes in the mouth. Dense, penetrating and very long: all back end today.
