Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2024-2030, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Jun 2024

On the nose this is a little flat, with emphasis on mushrooms, undergrowth, gentle blackberry fruits if you give it time to open, but short on the finish. One to drink soon. At the time the estate was owned by Jean Sanders, the grandfather of current owner Véronique Sanders, and this may be bottle variation, as although this was a challenging vintage, you can find some good examples.

Punteggio 86/100 · Da bere 2021-2025, Neal Martin, Apr 2022

The 1976 Haut-Bailly offers remnants of dark berry fruit on the nose, indicative of that hot summer, rather decayed with warm gravel scents coming through with aeration, later sandalwood. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin and respectable acidity considering the vintage. Hints of soy and autumn leaves are sprinkled over the old school, austere finish. This is a commendable showing considering its age and vintage. Tasted from an ex-château bottle at the Académie du Vin dinner.

Punteggio 86/100 · Da bere 2016-2026, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Jul 2016

Tasted at the Academic du Vin dinner, this ex-château bottle of 1976 Haut Bailly replicated the previous showing at the property several years ago. There are vestiges of dark fruit on the nose, indicative of that hot summer, rather decayed with warm gravel scents coming through with aeration, later sandalwood. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin and respectable acidity considering the vintage, hints of soy and autumn leaves sprinkled over the old school, rather austere finish. This is a commendable showing considering its age and vintage. Tasted April 2016.
