The 2021 La Commanderie has a rather flat nose that lacks fruit intensity and feels simplistic. The palate is lightly bitter on the entry, and the oak occludes the finish, overcompensating for the missing concentration.

The 2021 La Commanderie has a candied, rather one-dimensional bouquet that displays a touch of volatility. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, quite lithe and sensual yet missing real depth and grip on the finish.
The 2021 La Commanderie is an attractive wine that will drink well right out of the gate. Succulent red cherry, mocha, spice, new leather, tobacco and incense are nicely pushed forward in this juicy, mid-weight Saint-Émilion.
Subdued, but carefully constructed, a lighter expression of Pomerol with sappy red cherry fruit and a fine tannic frame. Sand-gravel terroir over clay subsoil, 80% new oak, 17hl/h yield, Pascal Chatonnet consultant.
