The 2020 La Commanderie (Pomerol) has a very attractive nose, not one that I would describe as amazingly complex, yet there is beguiling purity with blueberry and blackberry fruit, touches of wilted violet petal and truffle. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, well judged acidity and assiduous use of new oak. This Pomerol just seems to flow and is quite delicious. Recommended.

The 2020 La Commanderie is vibrant and potent right out of the gate. Inky dark fruit, chocolate, cloves and licorice give the 2020 quite a bit of density, but there is more than enough energy to balance things out. More than anything else, La Commanderie feels wonderfully alive. I can only hope the bottled wine retains that harmony.
Cask sample. Prominent oak with a ripe red-berry note and cinnamon. A serious palate with fine tannins, plenty of dark fruits and a warming finish. A layered wine that has an iron-rich powdery finish. Still displays freshness despite the full fruit character. (AC)
The 2020 La Commanderie has a pure, feminine bouquet of black cherries, blueberry and violet scents, the oak nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fine acidity, a smooth texture and truffle-tinged black fruit on the nicely proportioned finish. This is worth seeking out.
