The 2018 Clos de Vougeot le Grand Maupertui Grand Cru is limited to two barrels this year; Michel Gros informed me that the parcel is affected by court-noué . Raised entirely in new wood, as usual, and this dominates the aromatic profile at the expense of terroir expression. The palate is medium-bodied and, again, the toastiness of the barrels comes across quite heavily. Attractive in its own way, but it is difficult to discern any Clos Vougeot DNA.
