The 2021 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru is aged in used oak and then 30% in Wineglobes. This has what you might call more Pinoté on the nose than the Chambertin: beautifully defined red fruit, touches of white tipped strawberry and white tea, the whole bunches (20%) seamlessly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with finely-chiselled tannins, fresh and vibrant, quite saline, maybe just losing a little depth and body in its final furlongs due to the growing season exerting into limitations. Yet it remains a finely crafted Clos-de-Bèze.

Cask sample. Mid-ruby. This is very affirmed, with a floral, rose-laden nose of dark-red fruits. The firm, savoury side of Clos de Bèze shows through but with a cut-crystal quality to it. Very refined and luminous. Shows itself very well. (MH)
