The 2023 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru, which comes from the upper part of the climat , includes 40% whole bunch. It has a beautifully pure bouquet with dark cherries, blueberries and violet scents—quintessentially Vosne-Romanée. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. It is more complex than the 2022, with graphite and hints of marmalade toward the weighty finish. This is excellent and will meliorate in bottle.

From the higher part of Les Beaux Monts, purchased in 2021. 0.45 ha (1.11 acres). Cask sample. Bright mid-pale ruby. Serious nose with woodsmoke and spice over red cherries. This is very sophisticated and even quite slight. There’s fine lacy acidity. Fine, perfumed and all in finesse. (MH)
