Rebourseau’s Chambertin Grand Cru comes from a 0.46-hectare parcel in the middle of the appellation. Lower and cooler than the Clos de Bèze, this Chambertin feels less ripe but nonetheless powerful. Its nose is fruity, more mineral and spicy than any other cuvées in the range, well-balanced and full-bodied. The fruit is a little more discreet here, with the oak fully integrated. This a great wine, with velvety tannins and rich redcurrant and cherry aromas on the mid-palate. The finish is very persistent, lasting for a good 20 seconds. Even if it is welcoming now, it is just a baby, very well made, just leave it in the cellar for eight years before opening. Great wine!

Blended with 15% whole bunch, the 2023 Chambertin Grand Cru is more expressive on the nose than the Clos de Beze. It has great terroir expression and complexity. The palate is well balanced, pure and sensual with svelte tannins, a keen line of acidity and satisfying grip and structure toward the finish. Very persistent, this is a far superior Chambertin compared to the 2022
Don't miss!- Here there is just enough reduction to knock down the fruit save for spicy nuances and a touch of wood toast. More interesting are the moderately dense, vibrant and tautly muscular larger-bodied flavors that brim with minerality on the more youthfully austere, balanced and beautifully persistent finish. This is seriously impressive and a wine that should amply repay extended keeping yet it's not so compact that it couldn't be reasonably drunk after 7 to 9 years. Drink 2035+
The 2023 Chambertin Grand Cru is also attractive, revealing aromas of sweet dark berries, orange zest, rose petals and cinnamon, followed by a medium to full-bodied, velvety and vibrant palate. A touch more elegant and understated than the Clos de Bèze, but not as persistent, the two are close in quality.

Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, this domaine has a long history and impressive vineyards (with over five hectares of Grand Cru), but has long been considered an under-performer. Today, however, the Bouygues brothers (of Montrose and Clos Rougeard) have taken ownership and change is afoot.
