Note: from a leased .29 ha parcel in En Orveaux where Mortet commercializes half of the production; 40% whole cluster. Perfumed, elegant and cool aromas are composed by notes of black currant, raspberry and pretty floral scents along with an appealing range of spice hints, especially exotic tea. The sleek, intense and beautifully detailed medium-bodied flavors possess a lovely sense of underlying tension that renders the refreshing, focused and balanced finish all the more attractive. This is an excellent Ech and worth considering.

The 2023 Echézeaux Grand Cru is pure and precise, offering up notes of sweet red berries, plums, violets and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and succulent palate.
45-year-old vines. 30% whole clusters, 33% new oak. Cask sample. Mid ruby. Obviously grand cru in the depth of fruit, concentration and body. Ripe red fruit (red cherry, strawberry and raspberry) is not only abundant but inviting and sensuous. Supple, balanced with bright acidity keeping everything in place. Extra-ripe, serious volume. The 2023 Echézeaux Grand Cru comes from a parcel adjacent to the Musigny border and is matured with one-third whole bunch. It has a well-defined bouquet that is a little earthier with dark fruit and a touch of sea spray. The medium-bodied palate features grainy tannins, pure blackcurrant and raspberry, with hints of licorice and star anise toward the poised finish. Plenty of energy here. This will deserve three or four years in bottle.
