The 2023 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 1er Cru has a wonderful bouquet with expressive brambly red fruit, crushed stone and undergrowth scents that convey a sense of transparency. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins. The fruit is a little blacker and earthier than the aromatics, but it feels long on the finish. It has good potential, but it needs a prudent élevage.

Domaine Georges Noëllat, based in the village of Vosne-Romanée is today run by Maxime Cheurlin. Cheurlin took over the domaine in 2010 – aged just 20 – and has since transformed its reputation as one of the finest Burgundy wine producers.
