Punteggio 94-96/100 · Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jan 2025

Note: from a single .15 ha parcel of 50+ year old vines located near the southern end of the appellation; 70% whole cluster. The elegant, pure and super-fresh nose of mostly wood-tinged earthy red berries is also akin to putting your nose in a bouquet of freshly picked flowers. The caressing, refined and almost painfully intense larger-bodied flavors possess impressive delineation on the overtly mineral-driven, powerful and palate staining finish where a touch of wood eventually surfaces. This is also one of the best examples of Chambertin that you'll likely find in the 2023 vintage.*Burghound Don't Miss!*

The 2023 Chambertin Grand Cru offers up pretty aromas of cherries and raspberries mingled with intones of blood orange, rose petals and violets. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's pure and precise, with fine, powdery structuring tannins, lively acids and a saline finish.

70% whole bunch, pedicels only. Two-thirds new oak. Cask sample. Mid ruby. Floral, lacy nose of soft red fruits, strawberry, raspberry and cherry. Delicately intense fruit balanced by fine, just-crisp acidity. Powdery, chalk-dust tannins and long, long length. Absolute elegance and finesse with concentrated, filigree fruit. Lofty, silken, diaphanous. (MH)

The 2023 Chambertin Grand Cru was done with 100% whole bunch with the central stem removed. It has a fragrant bouquet with vivacious red berry fruit, rose petals, hints of blue fruit and violet. Very refined, it gains intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied and very mineral-driven, with a strict, linear opening and a little graphite developing toward the finish. This is a serious and intense Chambertin that should age beautifully in bottle.
