The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard is a good choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years. Floral and savory top notes give the 2011 its perfumed, lifted feel. This mid-weight Cabernet offers terrific balance for such a challenging year. I would prefer to drink it over the next few years. Sweet red/purplish berry fruit, crushed flowers and dried herbs linger.

The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard wraps around the palate with serious depth and density. Here, too, the French oak is a bit pronounced, but those qualities marry better with the qualities of To Kalon as opposed to Dr. Crane. Layers of dark fruit build to an imposing, tannic finish as this brooding yet opulent Cabernet Sauvignon shows off its personality and pedigree.
The outstanding 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon is softer and less substantial than the 2010, but it is loaded with blue and black fruits, white chocolate, espresso roast and lead pencil shaving-like notes. The tannins are soft and unobtrusive in this fleshy, succulent, sensual red.
