Note di degustazione
A wine that has everything is the 2012 Fortification, a semi-opaque ruby-hued beauty that just about jumps out of the glass with its sexy red plums, smoked cigar, tobacco leaf, mint, and chocolate-laced aromas and flavors. Full-bodied on the palate, it has a round, expansive, seamless mouthfeel, plenty of underlying structure and tannins, flawless balance, and a finish that won't quit. This is heavenly stuff and clearly in the same realm as the 2005 and 2007. It has more breadth compared to the 2010 yet has the structure to continue improving over the coming decade, and it should evolve through 2062.

Medium garnet colored, the 2012 Fortification has a bright, vivacious nose of dark Morello cherries, blueberry compote and crème de cassis with lifted red roses and lilacs scents plus compelling peat moss, tree bark, dark chocolate, spice cake and dusty soil suggestions. Full-on full-bodied, concentrated and totally seductive in the mouth, the palate is charged with energetic black fruits and spicy accents, framed with velvety tannins, finishing very, very long.
