Dark red; the brightest color of these 2013s. Sexy scents of red and darker berries and dried flowers. Large-scaled, pliant, plush and sweet, with raspberry and cherry fruit complemented by flowers, tobacco and underbrush. This silky, seamless wine expands to fill the olfactories without showing any weightiness. Wonderfully sweet, rich Charmes with outstanding early sex appeal. Finishes with lush tannins and terrific persistence.

The 2013 Charmes Chambertin Grand Cru, which is blended with Mazoyères, has a precise, stony, wild hedgerow-scented bouquet that unfolds with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with sorbet-like freshness on the entry - such an animated Charmes-Chambertin in the making. There is impressive weight here but it retains superb finesse on the fig-tinged finish. This is a consummate Charmes-Chambertin.
