Disgorged in November 2019, Geoffroy's 2006 Extra-Brut Premier Cru Millésimé Terre is showing nicely, offering up an autumnal bouquet of golden orchard fruit, quince, toasted almonds, honeycomb and dried orange zest. Medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with a voluminous mid-palate and a pinpoint mousse, it's sapid and mouthwatering, suggesting interesting gastronomic possibilities.

The 2006 Extra-Brut Millésime Terre is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay from old vines in Cumières. The forward, nutty, oaky flavors are suggestive of a Champagne that is aging on a very fast curve. I would prefer to drink the 2006 sooner rather than later. Dosage is 3 grams per liter. The 2006 Extra Brut Millésime is another super-expressive wine in this range. Racy and bold in feel, the 2006 shows elements of the ripeness of 2002 with the energy of 2004, but it also needs more time in bottle to be at its best. Lemon confit, white flowers, spice, pastry and butter all develop in the glass. I would give the 2006 another year or so in bottle, but it won't need much more than that. Disgorged: 2017.
This has a strong autolysis influence, showing almond nougat, light red fruit and toasted brioche. The palate is richly flavored and smooth but compressed, the mushroom and earthy sous-bois flavors gliding along seamlessly. Savory style. A blend of 70 per cent pinot noir and 30 per cent chardonnay with ten years on lees. Drink now.
