Note di degustazione
The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaut Saint-Jacques 1er Cru feels a little monotone in style compared to its peers in this flight, with citrus-tinged red fruit, a hint of orange rind and Japanese wakame. The palate is medium-bodied with quite plush tannins compared to other Lavaux Saint-Jacques. As such, it does not quite deliver the same degree of delineation and race. Enjoyable but not reaching its full potential in terms of complexity. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaut Saint-Jacques 1er Cru is completely de-stemmed. It has a fresh, pure bouquet with brambly red fruit, forest floor and light cedar aromas. The oak here (60% new) is nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with a sorbet-fresh entry. Touches of blood orange and marmalade infuse the red fruit, but it just lacks a bit of persistence on the finish.
