Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2020-2027, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Mar 2020

The 2017 Petit Faurie de Soutard has potential for future, but in this vintage, it comes across as not fully put together. Red fruit, flowers, spice and blood orange are all nicely delineated, but the wine is all over the place, with its elements all very dispersive in feel. Tasted two times.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Petit Faurie Soutard rolls out of the glass with notes of baked plums, stewed cherries and sautéed herbs plus wafts of tobacco, new leather and tar. Medium-bodied, the palate is a little lean, with well-managed, chewy tannins and a mineral-tinged finish.

The 2017 Petit Faurie de Soutard has a warm, soft red berry nose mixed with Xmas cake and light cedar aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, a little tough with a spicy finish that is missing a little length.

Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2020-2032, Jeb Dunnuck, Feb 2020

Made from 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Chateau Petit Faurie De Soutard is a charming, medium-bodied, nicely textured effort with an approachable, forward style as well as plenty of savory, spiced red and black fruits and notes of forest floor, dried flowers, and spice. It should drink nicely for a decade. Based on 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, brought up in 60% new French oak, it’s going to evolve nicely for at least 10-12 years. This estate utilizes the talented Thomas Duclos, and they consistently produce an outstanding wine.
