The 2021 Château Yon-Figeac is a touch wild and feral, with a metallic hint in its ripe red and black fruits, saddle leather, and spicy nuances. Nicely balanced, with good sweetness of fruit and a medium-bodied mouthfeel, drink bottles over the coming decade.

Enjoyable tomato leaf and peony fragrance, struggles a little to maintain moment, with acidity cuts through the dark cherry and cassis fruit, emphasising the tannic architecture. Last year before Grand Cru Classé. Owned by Alain Chateau, 24ha.
The 2021 Yon-Figeac has a simple, rather green nose. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly dry tannins and a little herbaceous, but there is at least some freshness coming through on the finish.
Cask sample. Fig, dark fruits and earthy notes on the nose. The palate is detailed with plenty of acidity! Moderate intensity, soft tannins and a medium finish. Not hugely complex but has good fruit. (AC)
