The 2015 Cadet-Bon has turned out beautifully. Sumptuous and racy in the glass, the 2015 offers plenty of near- and medium-term appeal. The dark red cherry, plum, tobacco and dried flower flavors are nicely pushed forward. Although not the last word in complexity, the 2015 is silky, pliant and delicious. Drink it over the next decade or so. Frédéric Massie and Emmanuel Ramond are the consulting winemakers.
From a site north of the village of Saint-Emilion and a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Château Cadet-Bon has a very pretty, fresh, elegant style yet still packs tons of fruit. Blackcurrants, damp earth, white truffle and floral aromas and flavors all flow to a rich, concentrated, beautifully textured Saint-Emilion that has notable freshness and purity. It needs 3-4 years of cellaring and will drink well for a decade after that.
A Stéphane Derenoncourt wine. Very dark. Sweet and rich. Satisfying. (JR)
