The 2020 Rosso MunJebel CS is dreamy in the glass, displaying aromas of sweet violet, lavender, crushed blackberries and a dusting of confectionery spice. It sweeps across the palate, energetic and bright, with ripe wild berry fruits and crisp minerality propelled by juicy acidity. A coating of fine tannins and a lick of blood orange linger through the conclusion, adding a lovely framework as the 2020 finishes with admirable length. This is almost too easy to like.

The Frank Cornelissen 2020 Etna Rosso Contrada Zottorinotto Chiusa Spagnolo CS might need a bit more time in bottle to flesh out. At this point, it shows dark cherry fruit and cola, and there is a hint of trapped CO2. It offers a lean mouthfeel but not without power, followed by dark concentration and ferrous notes of rusty nail and beetroot.
See the introduction for a detailed description of this wine. Cask sample. Pale garnet. Light aromas. Bright, transparent, clean and vibrant. Intense and layered and more savoury (as opposed to sweet). Dry but not drying on the finish. A very pretty young wine. (JR)
