The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard Empyrean is a selection brought up in a mix of Taransaud and Darnajou barrels. It certainly brings another level of density in its cassis and blueberry fruit as well as baking spices, leather, and leafy herbs, with a kiss of chocolaty oak. I love its overall balance, and it has ripe tannins and a gorgeous finish.

While the oak is a bit more obvious on the nose of the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Empyrean than in the regular bottling, the cedar and vanilla notes do a wonderful job framing the great black cherry fruit. It's full-bodied and lush, with enough richness and concentration that it doesn't show any heat. Special stuff.
