The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon 5500 is a silky, polished wine. Dark-toned fruit, mocha, spice, new leather and tobacco build nicely in the glass. Medium in body and refined to the core, the 2021 is seriously impressive. It’s a young, young wine, so readers will have to be patient. The blend is 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot, the highest percentage of Merlot ever here. Espresso, lavender and clove linger on the persistent, sepia-toned finish. (AG)

Vibrant dark red/purplish plum fruit, graphite, menthol and lavender all take shape as the 2021 gradually opens in the glass. Sweet, pliant with beautifully integrated tannins for a young wine, the 2021 is just magical.
