Note di degustazione
Sweet cherry, almost marzipan-esque on the nose with sophisticated spices and a long, impressive finish. Not as firm as some Gevreys can be, but has the fruit concentration of premier cru, with some iodine and soy to finish. (RH)

The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Aux Combettes comes from three parcels of 10-, 25- and 80-year-old vines located at the southern extremity of the vineyard. Matured in 75% new oak, it has a very detailed bouquet with more red than black fruit, hints of black truffle and undergrowth enhancing complexity, not an intense bouquet but focused and delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple, quite tensile tannin and tangible energy conveyed toward the finish. This is certainly worth investigating but it deserves 5 years in bottle.
