(50% domain plus 50% purchased grapes from vines located close to Bouchard's parcel): Bright red-ruby. Chocolatey dark cherry, mocha, leather and licorice aromas are leavened by a cool menthol quality and a whiff of flowers. Sweet, fat and rather soft, but with spice and menthol notes and sound mineral-driven acidity giving shape to the middle palate. Not complex or delineated enough for a higher score but round and nicely concentrated, finishing with ripe tannins and very good length. I marginally prefer this to the village Nuits.

Bouchard Père & Fils is one of Burgundy’s oldest and most established wine producers. Founded in 1731 by Michel Bouchard, it is the largest vineyard owner in the Côte d’Or with 130 hectares of vines.
