Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2022-2030, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, May 2022

The 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape La Dame Voyageuse is 90% Grenache, with the balance mainly Mourvèdre and Syrah (4% each), with tiny proportions of Counoise and Vaccarèse (1% each). Aged mostly in older wood—there's about 15% new oak—it delivers plenty of red fruit notes, ranging from redcurrants and raspberries to slightly darker cherries. Full-bodied and perhaps a touch warm, it's supple and fine, turning silky and elegant on the finish. Drink it on the young side.

Moving to the 2019s from bottle, the Grenache-heavy 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape La Dame Voyageuse offers a beautiful array of both red and black fruits as well as classic Provençal notes of lavender, peppery garrigue, and flowers. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and beautifully textured on the palate, this is another terrific vintage for this cuvée, which remains an incredible value in the market today. It will drink nicely for 10-12 years if stored correctly.

Vivid ruby. Spice-accented red berry preserve and cherry aromas are complemented by pungent floral and mineral nuances. Appealingly sweet and seamless in the mouth, offering sappy raspberry, cherry liqueur, licorice and baking spice flavors braced by a spine of juicy acidity. Finishes supple, broad and long, with lingering floral and spice notes and well-knit tannins that lend shape and gentle grip.

90% Grenache, 4% Syrah, 4% Mourvèdre, 1% Vaccarèse, 1% Counoise. Certified organic. Aged for 10 months in new barriques (15%) and used barriques (85%). Barrel sample. Tasted blind. Chewy floral and dark-fruit nose. Lovely weight here, while the oak is prominent it will integrate and there is great lift as well to this wine. Will age nicely. (AC)
