2020 West Ridge Estate Pinot Noir

The 2020 Pinot Noir West Ridge is perfumed and expressive, with pressed roses, incense, red cherry, and red berries. It’s medium-bodied, with an energetic mouthfeel in its notes of red cherry, hibiscus, orange peel, and saline. This is a great wine with a lot of freshness and tension. Drink 2025-2040.

The 2020 Pinot Noir West Ridge is a dark, brooding wine. Broad swaths of tannin wrap around a core of dark cherry/plum fruit. Leather, spice, incense, tobacco and dried herbs lend striking savory nuance. The West Ride is a rare 2020 Pinot that I would cellar for a few years. Although the tannins are pretty imposing, the 2020 also has plenty of fruit to back it up.

So complex, with hibiscus, orange peel, dark strawberry, sandalwood, and rose hip on the nose. Medium to full body with a linear, intensely fresh and minerally finish. Crushed stone and chalk. Give this at least three years to soften. Drink or hold.
