The 2006 Cornas from Stephane Robert is a polished, nicely textured Cornas that offers medium-bodied richness, bright acidity and silky tannin. Coming from a mix of parcels spread throughout the appellation, it’s a classic, nicely balanced, moderately concentrated and charming 2006 to drink over the coming 4-6 years.

Saturated ruby. Black raspberry, tobacco, tar and violet aromas are complicated by black olive and cracked pepper. Open-knit, velvety dark berry flavors coat the palate. Plenty deep, but there's also a seductive quality here that will allow for early drinking. The finish is gently sweet and long. More inviting than the lovely 2005.
The 2006 Cornas (Nouvelle Cuvee) exhibits a dense ruby/purple color, plenty of black fruit, tar, pepper, and crushed rock-like characteristics, full body, fine richness, sweet tannin, and decent acidity. It should be approachable in its youth. Importer: A Jocelyn Cambier Selection, Appellation Imports, Annapolis Junction, MD; tel. (800) 221-9916
