Cask sample. Much more finesse than the Clos de Bèze. Refined, fine acidity and great tannins supporting the concentrated fruit. Oak is nicely integrated. Should develop very well. (AWH)

The 2020 Chambertin Grand Cru comes from 0.46-hectares of vine matured in 350-litre new oak barrels. There was a little reduction on the nose when I tasted the sample, which made it difficult to read. The palate is medium-bodied with a creamy texture, quite lactic with touches of melted dark chocolate and a mint-fresh finish. This is a very lavish Chambertin but I want to see more terroir come through here.
Informazioni sul produttore

Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, this domaine has a long history and impressive vineyards (with over five hectares of Grand Cru), but has long been considered an under-performer. Today, however, the Bouygues brothers (of Montrose and Clos Rougeard) have taken ownership and change is afoot.
