Punteggio 86/100 · Da bere 2021-2024, Neal Martin, Mar 2021

The 2018 Haut-Bergey Blanc has an attractive honeysuckle and white peach nose with just a hint of melted butter in the background. The balanced palate offers nectarine, orange zest, touches of marmalade and toffee apples, and modest depth. That toffee element just comes through a little strongly on the finish. Nice to drink now, but I am not convinced about its long-term potential.

Beautifully pure notes of pineapple, white flowers, honeysuckle, and brioche emerge from the 2018 Château Haut-Bergey Blanc. Medium-bodied, it has a balanced, elegant texture, moderate yet adequate acidity, and a clean, dry finish that keeps you coming back to the glass. Readers looking for an impressive Bordeaux Blanc to enjoy over the coming 2-4 years (if not longer) won't be disappointed with this one.

The 2018 Haut-Bergey Blanc is a simple, straightforward offering that shows only modest depth in its apricot, chamomile, tangerine oil and mint flavors. Drink this creamy, supple white over the next year or two at most.

Haut Bergey's 2018 Blanc is showing its SO2 at first sniff, soon opening out to reveal notes of sliced apples, ripe peaches and lemon butter with wafts of beeswax and pineapple. The medium-bodied palate has soft acidity and bags of ripe stone fruit and apple-inspired flavors, finishing toasty.

Haut Bergey

Since Paul Garcin took over running this estate in 2014, it has become one of Pessac-Léognan’s most exciting addresses. Biodynamic and with a minimalist approach, Ch. Haut-Bergey makes pure and expressive wines that offer both great value and a taste of the modern Bordeaux.
