Shows rich leather and spice, as well as earthy elements and a red-plum and blackberry edge. Some tarry notes, too, together with notes of vegemite and charcuterie. The palate has a rich and concentrated feel with intense, pure blackberries and plenty of tannin on offer. Sitting fresh and very composed on the palate. Very open. Drink now.

One of the handful of major disappointments in the tasting, I loved this wine early on, but this bottle (I did not bring any back-up bottles) seemed flaccid and fully mature with the color showing considerable pink bordering on amber at the edge. Loosely knit with overripe fig and plum notes as well as a quickly fading finish, this was disappointing.
