Punteggio 91/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2014

Good dark red. Very reticent nose shows nutty oak and little else today. Then sweet and vinous in the mouth, much fresher than the nose suggests. Silky raspberry fruit is complicated by a note of white truffle. Very young and concentrated wine with harmonious acidity and sweet tannins. Less aggressive from bottle than it was from barrel a year ago, but give it a couple years in the cellar to blossom.

A broad, ample wine, the 2011 Vosne-Romanée Champs Perdrix blossoms on the palate with gorgeous depth and resonance. There is more than enough fruit to fill out the wine's ample shoulders, while veins of underlying energy keep the flavors vibrant. The 2011 is all about balance. It drinks beautifully today, but also appears to have the stuffing to age nicely for a number of years.

Bright red-ruby. Highly aromatic raspberry and mineral scents, lifted by a strong note of white flowers. A juicy, saline midweight with lovely inner-mouth perfume and a firmly tannic, youthfully aggressive back end. Longer than the Rue de Vergy.
