2019 Corton Les Grandes Lolieres

Full bottle 1,680 g. NHB. Sweet and plush. Dense black plums and black-cherry candy, vanilla pod and liquorice-root dust. There seems to be a Napa-like richness, fullness and velvet-draped ambition imprinted on all the Bertagna wines, and this is by no means an exception. Dried lavender leaf and flower gives the palate a fragrant lift, although underneath all that luxurious purple fruit is a thin but decisive line of dark-soy umami, braised mushrooms and pomegranate molasses. A subtle touch of sherbet energy. Spicy and dried-herb fragrant finish, despite the defiantly persistent length of the fruit. Lots of dramatic flair here! (TC)
