Note di degustazione
The 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Ruchots 1er Cru has a potent peppermint-scented nose that rather obscures the terroir expression. The palate is medicinal and cloying on the entry, low acidity, some volatility on the finish. I feel this might not be a representative bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

The 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Ruchots is smoking good. Loads of spice, dried flowers, mulberries, strawberries, and forest floor notes emerge from this beauty, which is medium to full-bodied and has a wonderful mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. This rich, concentrated, nicely structured wine needs just 2-3 years of bottle age and will keep for 15+.
The 2018 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Ruchots 1er Cru is matured with 30% whole bunch and up to 20% new oak. This has a fragrant and more floral bouquet compared to the Aux Chesaux, incense and pressed violets emerging with aeration, along with a slight meaty character. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, quite dense and well defined. The slightly sinewy finish will demand a few years to soften. Maybe I am seeking more charm in this Morey-Saint-Denis.
