Punteggio 94/100 · James Suckling, Oct 2024

Beautiful, well-built and dark, this big but balanced wine is practically all syrah that's been apparently shaped and spiced by aging in a good portion of new oak barrels. Drenched in soft, resolved tannins, it coats the mouth with cocoa, blackberries, black pepper and licorice plus iron and mineral nuances. Full-bodied, long and supple. Drink now or hold. (JG)

Punteggio 95/100 · The Wine Advocate, Sep 2024

The blackest, deepest wine in the range, the 2022 Syrah G2 is opulent and luxurious on the nose, with generous aromas of opaque fruit, lavender, white pepper and accents of smoked meat. The palate holds immense concentration, with a polished texture that leads to a saturated, layered and muscular finish with impressive length and tenacity. Grand in stature without going overboard, this should unwind and evolve beautifully over the next 5–7 years. This wine comprises 94% Syrah, 4% Grenache and 2% Mataro. (ML)

Punteggio 94/100 · The Wine Advocate, Dec 2023

The 2021 Syrah G2 is developing much more slowly than some of the other 2021s from Turtle Rock and will require significant time in bottle to unwind. Incorporating 6% Mataro and 2% Grenache, it has deep scents of cassis, milk chocolate, game meats and violet, plus latent undertones of earth and spice. The palate is full-bodied, supple and plush with a harmonious frame and youthfully coiled fruit. Hide this in the back of your cellar. 94+ (EB)

Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2022-2037, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Mar 2022

The 2019 G2 is a blend of 92% Syrah, 6% Mataro and 2% Grenache, made with about 20% whole clusters and matured in 90% new French oak. Deep ruby-purple, it has very pretty scents of blueberry compote, exotic spices, mint and aniseed, continually shifting as it spends time in the glass. The full-bodied palate has pure, restrained fruits, an abundance of grainy tannins and seamless freshness, with notable layers and length. This elegant Syrah has a long life ahead in the cellar.
