Tasted blind. Deep crimson. Ripe enough, yet with Graves freshness. A solid, if not mind-blowing effort. Finish is a bit drying. Boot-camp wine. (JR)

The 2021 La Garde has one of my favorite aromatic profiles amongst several châteaux under Dourthe. Lovely blackberry, cassis and crushed violet aromas unfold in the glass, the oak here neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip, chalky tannins and fine precision. This is one of the best La Garde in recent years, perhaps due to this being the first vintage in their new cellar.
The 2021 La Garde is a very pretty wine to drink now and over the next decade or so. Crushed flowers, blood orange, mint, spice and cedar give the 2021 lovely aromatic presence. This soft, open-knit Pessac-Léognan is very nicely done. The floral, mid-weight style is quite appealing. The 2021 is the first wine made in the new cellar.
