Limpid yellow. Fragrant, mineral-laced citrus and orchard fruit scents and flavors; floral and succulent herb nuances add complexity. At once fleshy and energetic in style, offering bitter citrus pith, pear and honeysuckle flavors that are sharpened by a gingery flourish. Closes with sharp clarity and strong tenacity, leaving a dusty mineral note behind.

100% Doña Blanca . People didn’t like early vintages of this wine (first vintage in 2011). Raúl loves the 2011 now. 50% fermented and aged in 500-litre casks and 50% in 2,000-litre casks. No racking. No SO2. No bâtonnage .Deep straw. Really rather glorious! Mild honeycomb and lanolin. Masses of acidity and body. Great stuff! Long, racy – massive impact. (JR)
Raúl Pérez thinks 2017 is his best vintage for white wines. Volumes are low, but the quality is high. The 2017 La Vizcaína la del Vivo has moderate alcohol, 12.3%, and had very good acidity. It has some herbal notes, hints of fennel and bay leaf with just a creamy and smoky twist. It's very tasty, marked by the soil, with a dry, stony sensation in the palate. The full clusters are pressed and there's no maceration with the skins, something they changed in the last few years, and it makes for leaner wines that seem to improve from vintage to vintage. In 2017 it transcends the character of the year, which was the earliest harvest on record. 4,500 bottles produced.
